This week I was focused on following this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYxDUbeShXk
I have been doing this in the Free version of Plasticity, there are a hand-full of features that are not offered, this made following the tutorial even more confusing.
In conclusion, I am very impressed by the capabilities of this software, i definitely see why professionals are using it in the industry, it's fast, clean and you don't have to worry about topology. I want to continue learning this software, it would be an incredible advantage for me to master this software with my next project.
For ventures I want to do this project: https://www.artstation.com/marketplace/p/JmYBB/ultimate-weapon-tutorial-for-portfolio
Hell yeah!

Took my references into Photoshop and made all the images to scale. Some of the images have too much perspective so I can only guess some of the sizes. |

Importing the images into plasticity is super easy. Photoshoping them into the right scale is necessary as trying to match the images and scale them accordingly is harder than in Max or Maya. |
Setting scale of the images is the same, I would take the real scale of the Slide and match the images accordingly. Plasticity still seems like a very viable tool to learn. The controls are still weird.
Since this is a learning opportunity instead of a production opportunity, I will be documenting my path on learning Plasticity and creating simple shape.
I started off by watching this video:
I will be be summarizing and giving my thoughts on it.
Navigation: I can get away with not learning new movement controls as they have the alternative to switch to 3ds Max controls:
The newly acquired information set me on a path to try to replicate the Glock-19s slide. It's a simple shape, I have already done a low, mid, and high poly version in Max. I tried to implement my pipeline into plasticity:

This was a very interesting test! I am very impressed by the ease of use of Plasticity, it feels fast and slow at the same time. It feels nice to not have to worry about polygons and breaking the topology.
My biggest problem with this test was the lack of reference images in the software but after finishing this test I looked up how to add images planes. that should make my life so much easier!
I am so excited to continue doing more tests and getting faster and better with Plasticity!
Other Help:
Schedule:
Week 1: Getting started! Get familiar with the navigation, shortcuts, and key maps. Recreate the Glock-19's slide and reflect on it.
Week 2*: Learn to set up a scene to do accurate modeling. (Reference images, scale, units, etc)
Week 3: Follow this tutorial and create a hand grip: https://youtu.be/rYxDUbeShXk?si=WDrsePQMuVsP0P5B
Final: Reflect.
*I will be out for 5/7 days of the week at my sister's wedding.
